Mandate
The objectives of this non-for-profit charitable organization are:
- To create a platform for Luso-Canadian filmmakers, throughout the province and the country, to showcase their media arts work.
- To encourage and promote the understanding of Portuguese culture through the art of cinema.
- To enrich the art of Portuguese cinema and facilitate the meeting of Portuguese filmmakers from around the world in Toronto.
- To stimulate the motion picture industry within the Portuguese communities spread through out the globe, particularly in Canada.
- To stimulate Canadians in understanding Luso-Canadianism and Portuguese cultures spread throughout the world through the art of film.
Activities
- Films will be screened in a cinema in downtown Toronto located at the National Film Board of Canada headquarters.
- Lectures and/or question and answer sessions can be scheduled prior to or after the screening, provided talent is able to attend.
- Fundraising and promotional events may include gala dinners, concerts/cabarets, car washes and auction of goods.
- Education seminars will be proposed to be held at local secondary schools where the concentration of Luso-Canadian students is dense where TIPFF can encourage and promote the development of Visual and Media arts, including Portuguese films from Canada and around the world; both contemporary and classic
